The 85 Sportfish’s sleek lines and low profile provide for an aggressive, speed-defining stance.
Description
85-foot sport fishing yacht with five staterooms, six heads, and automotive styling.
Overview
First conceived in 1995, the 85’ Unleashed depicts Applied Concepts’ dramatic styling capabilities within the custom-yacht industry. Concept cars provided inspiration for the sleek forms, particularly within the stylish interior.
The project began with digital renderings of the yacht. The vessel was then digitally block-modeled to refine the shape and assist in the placement of its components. Inboard cross-sections were used to check the feasibility of the design, allowing us to tweak the necessary geometry. Interior sketches were transformed into three-dimensional models and inserted into the main assembly to check for accuracy.
With time, the models became more detailed; incorporating advanced shaping and material allocation. This required inventing new methods of construction, installation, and documentation. Jigs were used to provide structure to the organic couches, beds, and counters. Overall, digital modeling gave us rapid access to both macro and micro details within the large vessel.
The owner’s stateroom features organic furniture created using innovative methods.
The interior was built within a jig representing the inside surface of the superstructure.
We developed a packet of scale detail drawings to instruct and assist the builders.
